Additionally, starting from other points, such as the village of Pyrgos or Imerovigli and following alternative routes will bring you closer to nature’s beauties.
Swimming
Due to the volcanic eruption, the shores of Santorini have a unique formation. Black, red and white beaches are found all around the island. In Oia there are various beaches where you can enjoy swimming while being fascinated by the special landscape! Next to Ammoudi bay, you will find Agios Nikolaos church on a very small rocky island that is close to the shore with crystal clear water to swim in and a natural diving spot for the brave ones! Katharos beach is another wonderful choice close to Oia for swimming. It is a very private and quiet spot for romantic moments from dusk till dawn. Baxedes, a beach favoured by the locals, is unorganized but also very peaceful. As for the rest of the island, the most famous beaches are located in the southern part of Santorini: Perivolos, Perissa and Kamari. These are among the best-organized beaches in Santorini with plenty of beach bars, taverns, restaurants, shops and water sport activities.
